Winter in Oregon

December 28, 2009

Even though it's winter and I don't like winter it's been quite wonderful. We've been doing stuff like playing the boardgame Settlers to driving out Mckenzie Highway to try and find snow but running out of luck. Adam and I have been playing FIFA and i've been taking pictures. Plus I've got the save the dates ordered. My mom comes home from Peru on Sunday and I'm quite excited, but i'm so excited for her that she was able to go and spend time there! Here are some pictures to enjoy.
Yummy gingerbread cookies that Diana made and we all helped decorate, but really, all the credit goes to her :) I love Christmas time! It has not rained, it has not snowed. Thanks Oregon for being so cold. But we had a beautiful sunset the other day!
We took Cooper to the dog park and i got this shot.
Beautiful winter day!

Time goes by so fast!

Adam and I have less than 6 months until the wedding,
How crazy is that!
I have the photographer booked, the venue done, and have got my beautiful dress that I want to wear everyday!
Next up is save the dates and collecting addresses! Jeez it all seems surreal to me.

I cannot wait to celebrate this day with wonderful friends and family :)

FYI: I'M EXCITED!

Engaged!

First of all, thank you Gracie for taking these pictures of us! We love them!

How crazy! Can't believe it really, but it feels like we've been engaged for a while really....when it's only been a few weeks. Love it! Shooting for June 19th 2010! Save the date :)

Here's the Proposal Story....

Saturday, September 26th was the last weekend of summer for both of us since school started the 29th. So for our final summer weekend we decided to go to the coast. Not expecting anything for that day, I dressed up in track shorts and a t-shirt and headed over to Adam's house. When I got there it was about 12 and he told me he had a few errands to run, which I thought was a bit weird, but said ok anyways.
As soon as we got in the car Adam pulled out our journal that we write back and forth to eachother in and read to me what we were doing for the day, or the minimum of what to expect. He had explained that today (Saturday) he had a special day planned, he wrote a poem scavenger hunt and for each poem there was a place around town that was special to us. When we would go to our places there would be suprises waiting for us. I wasn't allowed read ahead in the journal and he told me I shouldn't expect a proposal, because supposedly he didn't have a ring and didn't want me to get disappointed. As soon as he read this I was super excited and kind of nervous for what was coming up and disappointed because I really thought maybe he would propose. So not knowing what to expect I read the first poem/clue.
The first one led to Brattain Elementary where we first met. When we arrived we met with one of our elemantary school teachers Mrs. Blackwell. She greeted us and told us she had a letter to read to us. The letter was so good that we all broke down in tears. I still didn't know what was going on for that day. Hoping that I didn't have to cry the whole day, we went off to our next destination. It was a park up by our friend Mckenzie's house is where we met Joby Jarvis, who is our Young Life area director. We met him up there in the summer of 8th grade going into freshmen year. When we got there he was waiting for us with another letter.
The next poem/clue led to Springfield Middle School, which is where we started dating. Adam pulled out two letters that he asked our friends to send us, one from Sean Castro (best man) and the other from Gracie Persson (maid of honor). Sean was in Nebraska and Grace was in India so they could not actually be there.
The next spot was to my parents house, where they waited for us with letters and even more tears! They both wrote to us in Spanish, and Adam did a very good job reading it. By this time we had been crying so much that my eyes were starting to hurt. This is where I changed into a better outfit too, rather than shorts and a t-shirt.
The next spot was Springfield High School, where we went to high school. Dylan one of Adam's young life guys was waiting for us with a letter and also a letter from Maritza, one of my vida joven girls.
From there, the next clue led to the U of O campus where we met Jake Melear and Tauna Nelson who read us the letters they had written us.
The last clue led to Adam's parents house where Brad and Diana had written us letters. I hadn't expected any of that at all, it was great! I couldn't believe Adam had arranged all that (he told me it took him three months). I was also wondering how Adam was going to top this for his proposal. Well the last clue, or what I thought was the last clue, led to the coast: Heceta Head Lighthouse.
Still not expecting anything we hiked up to the place where the water crashes on the rocks and in the middle of taking pictures Adam said " I have one last question", and that's when I knew it was actually going to happen. He asked if I had wanted him to ask me normally or to read a poem. Since I had been reading poems all day, I just told him to read me the poem. In the poem he got down on one knee and asked me! It was perfect; everyone involved, the good weather, the waves crashing, everything!
But the last poem/clue for the day led to Mo's restaurant. I was in so much shock and we were both hungry so we hurried to Mo's Restaraunt, little did I know that almost everyone who had written us a letter would be waiting for us there. It was a final great surprise and it was so nice to be able to share the day with everyone there.
