Urban Lumber Company

Have you seen my husband?
He is a hunk! Please scroll down and find some photos of him or Facebook stalk me... it'll be worth your time because he's so hot :)

Ha, okay maybe it's just me....but let's be real, I got me a good one.
You may wonder what he does for a living when he's not telling me to get off Facebook or to cook him dinner.
(That last one was a joke, because if you knew me, you would know that I don't cook! But I'm working on it)

I'm excited to share with you today a little bit of his life and the beautiful things he makes everyday

He graduated from the University of Oregon a year and a half ago with a Psychology major. Now he is putting all that schooling to good use by doing manual labor all day. His hands are now permanently dirty and everyday he comes home covered in sawdust, no lie. But I deal since he is so manly and I like it. He works at Urban Lumber Company. Check it out! There aren't many companies these days that go through the whole process of making furniture; cutting the tree down, slabbing it up, then making custom pieces.
It starts like this: they get GIANT hardwood trees from Lane County. Trees that had to come down anyways because of disease or unsafe branches or whatever. Then once it arrives at their lumber yard they will either mill slabs or dimensional lumber. From there, the wooden slabs will be placed in a kiln. Once the wood is dried and ready, they will make custom furniture. Isn't it neat!? He really loves what he does and he's really good at it. Seth (Adam's boss) had asked me to photograph some pictures of the newly-made furniture pieces for their website and other events. I happily agreed (how could I say no to taking photos?). Here are some of their pieces from the last couple of weeks.
Enjoy!
By the way, the two matching end tables Adam made all by himself. Pretty impressive right?

If you're impressed, they have a gallery open through October where they are showcasing their latest work. Feel free to come and browse Fridays and Saturdays. It's located on the corner of Broadway and Willamette.
